Frequently Asked Questions
While the unit is suitable for outdoor use, we highly recommend placing it in a sheltered area such as a patio, beneath an umbrella, or under a deck to shield it from the elements - especially the chiller. Keeping your chiller covered and shielded from direct exposure to elements such as rain or snow will maximize it's longevity. If you keep your unit outdoors and covered, ensure that the chiller has adequate ventilation. This is just our suggestion, as some customers have had their unit outdoors, uncovered with no issues.
In regions where temperatures drop below freezing, it's recommended to use the chiller bypass hose and relocate the device indoors during freezing conditions. Keeping the chiller protected from freezing is the responsibility of the customer. Click here to see how to add the chiller bypass hose.
When running your unit outdoors in cold climates, always keep your pump running and filters fresh. To ensure optimal flow, you may even opt to remove the filter completely and allow the water pass freely through the filter housing with no chance of the filter slowing down flow.
Damage to any components due to freezing will not be covered by our warranty, so it's important to stay on top of maintenance if keeping your unit outdoors in freezing temperatures.

Condensation will naturally occur when humid air meets cold surfaces. There might be some condensation on the waterlines and fittings. The insulation pack that we offer will mitigate the condensation, but but some will still occur in humid environments.
The answer is YES! There is no need for a higher HP chiller when your tub is this well insulated!
Thanks to the remarkable insulation of our tub, the 1/4 HP chiller operates smoothly without any struggle, ensuring a consistently cold water temperature, even in hot climates. The 1/4 HP chiller's recommended volume is 40-92 gallons - any chiller size bigger than this just wouldn't be necessary!

The water temperature can reach as low as 39 degrees. Upon setting it to 39 degrees, the water will promptly cool down to the designated temperature and subsequently shift into standby mode until the water exceeds 2 degrees above the set temperature. Consequently, when configured to 39 degrees, the water will consistently maintain a temperature range of 39-42 degrees.
This video answers some commonly asked questions about our chiller.
Due to its exceptional insulation, the Modtub demonstrates remarkable efficiency. Maintaining a steady 43 degrees throughout an entire month in the heat of a Texas summer, it consumed only 115 kWh. At the national average rate of $.23/kWh, the operational cost totaled just $26.45 for the month.
The Modtub proves to be both energy-efficient and economically sensible, costing less than $1 per day to operate!
There are two different components to keeping the water clean: filtration and sanitation. For filtration, you need to keep your filter cartridges fresh so they do not get clogged and prevent flow. Depending on usage, you typically need to change your filter cartridge every 2-4 weeks.
For sanitation, we recommend purchasing our maintenance package, and following our sanitation guidelines. If you follow these guidelines and change the filters appropriately, your water can stay clean for 3+ months.
It should cool 3-5 degrees/hour on initial fill up.
No, you should not add ice to your Modtub. Filtered water from the hose, passing through the hose filter, is the only suitable choice for filling up the Modtub. Unfiltered ice poses a risk of quickly clogging the filters and hindering the flow through the pump and chiller. To ensure optimal performance and longevity of the equipment, it is crucial to use only filtered water from the designated hose.
